- The Thing is promoted to the Individual as something that will somehow improve the quality of life by simplifying some process requiring the Individual’s TIME, ATTENTION and ENERGY.
- The Individual becomes jealous seeing his neighbor using the Thing, saving time, and obtaining a pleasurable result from the use of that Thing.
- The Individual becomes convinced that the version of the Thing he already owns is irreparably obsolete.
- The individual is BORED and/or FRUSTRATED and views the acquisition of the Thing as a source of ENTERTAINMENT and/or DISTRACTION.
